These are a one-of-a-kind, heirloom quality, Texas Mesquite tissue boxes. These stunning tissue boxes mix elegant and rustic style in one. These items are handmade and handcrafted in my wood-shop from my local sawmill.

All woods used are sustainable renewable resource hardwoods.

These beautifully finished mesquite tissue covers have been constructed with the utmost care and personal attention to detail. These handcrafted covers will enhance any of your rooms with an elegant or rustic quality that your friends, family, and guests will admire. Originally requested by my amazing wife so that we could place tissue boxes anywhere in our home and create beautiful, custom, handcrafted ‘talking pieces’ in every room. WOOD SPECIFICS:
This item is made from solid Texas Mesquite. No plywood, veneers, or substitute woods are used. The natural dark red swirls wood and lighter grain are typical of mesquite and add those little touches that veneers or staining can’t duplicate. These are limited in supply as mesquite is not a standard “off-the-shelf” hardwood. Texas mesquite, while beautiful in my opinion, is rarely found as an “exotic” wood used in products.

MATERIALS:
This item is made from solid mesquite, Titebond II wood glue, super blonde shellac, and furniture grade satin lacquer. All listed materials are non-toxic and FDA approved as food safe once cured (dry).

CONSTRUCTION:
The mesquite is from non-dimensional rough lumber milled down to 1/4 inch thickness in my shop. All my wood is stored until the moisture count is less than 10% so that warping and/or cracking won’t occur over time (not for outdoor use). The box construction uses perfectly cut 1/4″ box or finger joints all the way around and will not come loose over time (see pictures). The top is glued long-grain to long-grain to ensure a superior, heirloom durable bond.

FINISH:
The finish procedure is 2-3 layers of super blonde shellac to seal the wood from moisture and give it a light ambering color, then 4-8 layers of furniture grade satin lacquer to make them bathroom durable; sanding in-between layers to ensure a perfect finish quality. All my finishes are non-toxic and FDA approved as food safe.

DESIGN:
This cover is bottomless and simply slides over the tissue box. It is heavy enough not to allow the box to slide around and will not lift when you attempt to pull a tissue out.
